Dear Elsie Johnson Elementary School Community,

This message is to make you aware of an environmental concern identified at Elsie Johnson Elementary School and the steps the district is taking to address it.

Recently, mold growth was identified within Elsie Johnson Elementary School's server room within the Innovation Center. Our environmental hygienist partners, Examinetics, have assessed the space. It is a small, independently air-conditioned space that houses the building's computer servers, network switches and related technology equipment. Its air circulation is not shared with any other areas of the building, and students do not have access to the room. The space has no windows and remained closed for much of the summer during a period of increased humidity. These factors likely contributed to conditions that allowed the growth to occur.

Our school year is off to a wonderful start! Teachers are working hard to establish routines and expectations while building strong relationships with students. At the same time, our students are getting to know their school, their teachers, and one another. It has been so exciting to see our school community come together as we begin the year.

Both CCSD93 middle schools will host Spotlight on Learning Night on Wednesday, September 2, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. All parents are encouraged to attend!

Teachers will provide detailed information about their classes and what students will be working on throughout the school year.

District-level curriculum is not presented at the event. Instead, parents are invited to review the attached presentations for that information.

While the event is intended for parents only, students are welcome to attend if childcare is unavailable. Please arrive early!
